Medical Model Adult Day Health programs offer health and rehabilitative services including nursing, recreational therapy, occupational, physical and speech therapy, personal care, nutrition and social services. There programs are licensed and monitored by New York State. They must be affiliated with a nursing home or hospital. Additional services may include medication assistance, hot meals, and referral for other services.

Social Model Adult Day programs offer supervision, socialization, recreation, meals, and some assistance with personal care. Like Medical Model Adult Services, participants attend an on-site program one or more days per week on a regular basis during specified hours, then return to their own homes for the remainder of the day and night. Individuals who are socially isolated, confused, physically challenged and who need a structured program are appropriate.
